Springtime always inspires me to make honey bee jewelry after I work in the yard a few days and watch them going from the blueberry bushes to the flowers, working their magic. Where would we be without our bees? This one is etched into pure copper and then a black patina has been applied, followed by a coat of Renaissance Wax to preserve the look for a long time to come. The focal piece measures 1 1/4” wide x 1 3/4” tall. I’ve embellished it with some of the recycled glass beads from Africa and some vintage (I’ve had them over twenty years!) carved beads. I’m not sure if they’re ivory or bone, but they’re carved into flowers and the bee just loves hanging out with them! The whole bee and flower story is strung onto a piece of natural colored polished leather that measures 28”. It’s tied in a simple know at the nape of the neck and in the knot hangs a DitD maker’s tag.
