This mixed media piece began with an antique doorknob escutcheon that serves as my “canvas” for the art piece. I cut small dolphins from a sheet of sterling silver and attached them to look as if they’re leaping up out of the sea. Searching for the other embellishments was a lot of fun—I found pearls, crystal and glass beads in colors of the sea, shells and buttons that looked like coins. At the bottom, there drops a dark blue bead that symbolizes “the deep blue sea.” The focal piece hangs a generous 7 1/2 “ in length. Chain measures 24” in length, and there’s a signature tag hanging at the toggle closure.
